Born in Moscow in 1943.

In 1957-1961 attended the secondary art school under the Repin Institute of Painting, Modelling and Architecture of Leningrad.

Since 1962 has exhibited his works.

In 1971 Shemyakin emigrated to France and in 1981 moved to the US.

A full member of the New York Academy of Sciences and the European Academy of Arts.

In 1995 the Tretyakov Gallery and the Hermitage held Shemyakin’s solo shows. The Russian Museum did the same in its Stroganov Palace in 2005.

Does paintings, graphic works and modelling.

Lives in Hudson, the US, and St. Petersburg, Russia.
