Born in Olomouc, the Czech Republic, on 11 July 1927.

In 1951 he graduated from the Palacký University of Olomouc, majoring in Arts, and in 1952 obtained a doctor’s degree in art studies.

Between 1952 and 1960 Stibor taught at the Olomouc gymnasium.

From 1960 to 1989 he was the headmaster of the folk art school of Olomouc.

Between 1977 and 1990 Stibor cooperated with the Institute of Photography of the Association of Czech Photographers.

Since 1990 Stibor has been teaching the history and theory of photography, sculpture and architecture at the Silesian University in Opava.

Miloslav Stibor is a member of the German Society of Photography and of the Photographers Association of the Czech Republic.

Stibor has staged more than 150 solo shows and contributed to over 400 group exhibitions in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, France, Poland and other countries.

He won many international photography competitions and wrote several books on the theory of photography.

Three monographs and numerous publications have been written about his works.

Stibor’s photographs are in museum collections of the Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia and Lithuania and in private collections of Europe and America.
