Born outside Moscow in 1930.

In 1950 graduated from the teachers' training department of Moscow's Pamyati 1905 goda art school.

Between 1952 and 1958 attended the Surikov Art Institute of Moscow.

From 1958 exhibited his works, contributing to the 'Russian Lubok Variations' exhibitions at the Russian Museum (Leningrad) in 1977 and at Moscow's Central House of Artists in 1984.

Did paintings and graphic works, including prints.

Died in Moscow in 1992.

In 2005 the Tretyakov Gallery held Maximov's solo show.
