Born in Kharkov in 1933.

In 1958 graduated from the Serov Art School of Leningrad.

From 1959 to 1963 studied stage directing under N.P. Akimov at the Leningrad Institute of Dramatic Art.

From 1963 exhibited his works (from 1974 contributed his works to non-conformist art shows).

An organizer of the 'Alef' group.

In 1976 left Russia for the USA.

Died in San Francisco in 1997.
