Born at the Vesely Podol station, Poltava Gubernia, in 1914.

In 1933-1935 attended the Kharkov Industrial Design Institute.

In 1933 joined the Soviet Artists Union.

In 1934-1940 did book design and contributed to periodicals.

In 1940 was called up for Red Army service.

In 1943-1949 served sentence.

From 1949 to 1953 lived in Kotlas and worked as the chief artist of the Kotlas Drama Theatre.

In 1953 moved to Moscow and served as an artist for the Reklamfilm Studios and different publishing houses.

In 1957 exonerated and restored in his rights.

In 1961 re-joined the Soviet Artists Union.

In 1979 travelled to Spain.

In 1980-1981 made a series of paintings entitled 'Across Spain'.

In 1981 was granted the title of a Merited Artist of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR).

Died in Moscow in 1985.
